CCE RESOLVES 125 CASES IN 2018

At CCE we ensure;

  1. Privacy:the meetings involved in arbitration, mediation or other ADR methods take place in private without a public view and information given at the Centre are kept confidential.
  2. Cost:the cost involved in all other forms of ADR are usually only a fraction of the cost that would be involved in litigation. At CCE we use mediation to do most of the cases as a first point of call when a case is received.
  3. Speed:the parties involved in a dispute at CCE have more control over the process and are in a position to ensure that their dispute is dealt with promptly.
  4. Voluntary:at CCE the parties have control of the process which helps them reach joint decisions without the use of courts or someone imposing decision on you.
  5. Safe and neutral place: at CCE both parties have the opportunity to meet with an impartial ADR practitioner to work out plans for the future
  6. Reach your own agreements: Neutrals at CCE do not tell parties what to do but help them look at different options for resolving the issue at hand

In view of the above in 2018, CCE received a total of 165 cases out of which 125 were resolved through mediation, litigation and other mechanisms. These cases included family and matrimonial, landlord-tenants, labour related disputes and land disputes.

2019 ACTIVITIES

REGULAR ACTIVITY

The Centre, with the necessary financial support intends to intensify its activities in 2019 (January- December, 2019). We believe that with the achievements in 2018, we will be able to assist more people in 2019 through Alternative Dispute Resolution and Litigation for access to justice.

ANNUAL CITIZENS EMPOWERMENT DAY:

The Centre has decided to have an Annual Citizens Empowerment Day (ACED) every year in the month of October to discuss topical issues affecting the citizenry.

This programme will touch on areas where the members of the public are disadvantage especially in the justice delivery system. There will be Forum with keynote speaker and panel for discussion during such programme. This, the Centre believes, will empower the citizenry and further promote the Centre’s activities and also enable the Centre to assist more people.

The maiden programme will take off in October 2019. We expect to host about 400 people.
